Hear Me Now > Read Me Later
Voice recognition has become very reliable. I have been using a service called Tell Me to get updated on sports scores for a few years now. Just voice surf through the menu like so: Sports - Baseball - Twins and it will update you. There are other categories to choose from. Just dial 1-800-555-8355 (1-800-555-TELL) and listen, learn, speak and become informed.
Today I just learned from Mike Elgan of the Raw Feed about a new reminder service that is accessible via mobile phone. Called Jott it works like this: After a painless and easy signup that includes verifying your cell and email, you can start using the service. Suppose you make a date with a colleague for lunch on Thursday, but are not in a position to write down the details. Using your mobile phone and speed dialing you can just call in a reminder to yourself. The service will email you a transcript of the reminder which you may then enter into your calendar or whatever instrument you look to for appointments. Very cool.

John McCain’s MySpace Creator’s BooBoo
John McCain has a MySpace presence. Me too. Seems whoever put up this for him made at least two egregious errors. First of all they neglected to credit the designer that developed the layout which was used. Second and most importantly they neglected to replace an image in the template they stole used for the site. This caused a call to the designers servers to supply an image and led to the discovery of the hijack.
In return the designer replaced the image on his server with one that declared a political position change. When a visitor came to McCain’s MySpace the code called for the replacement image which would then appear to be a statement from the Senator. The designer is Mike Davidson a co-founder of newsvine.com who has an article with a photo and text of the statement on his blog.
In case you are wondering, yes I did change my MySpace to the layout featured in this post. With the proper attributions and substitutions of course.
